This ‘Queen of Hills’ is just 79kms. From Siliguri by road, You can also take a joy ride by the, ‘World Heritage’ Toy Train to Darjeeling. The mighty Kanchenjunga with the height of 28,146ft. being the third highest peak in the world, welcomes you to Darjeeling. On the top of the Observatory Hills is Mahakal Temple, a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Just on it’s base is the Victoria Park surrounded by the Mall, locally known as ‘Chowrasta’ is the most favourite place to take a leisurely walk, a pony ride or you can simply sit, relax. Situated below is the main market where you can get every thing from foreign goods to the products locally made. At a short distance towards the south from the town is Victoria Falls, where you can experience the fall of water from the height of 80fts. The Botanical Garden has keep some of the most beautiful flora & fauna in the world. The Himalayan Zoological Park gives you an opportunity to see the Royal Bengal Tiger to the wild beers, and the rare animals like Red Panda, Snow Leopard & Muscle Deer would often be a life time experience.

One of the most important place that is not to be missed is the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Established in 1954 after the conquer of Mount Everest by Tenzing Norgey and Edmund Hilary in 1953. It caters Basic, Advanced and Adventure training courses in Mountaineering. It also has a museum displaying equipments, photographs of the mountaineers from 1953 till date. The Darjeeling natural history museum contains collections of snakes, birds, mammals butterflies, fishes, insects etc. Some other famous places of interests are Tibetan Refugees Self – help Centre, the Batasia loop Dhirdham Temple, Tenzing Rock, a mind blowing ride by the ropeway (cable car) from north point to Takver T. E. and back to north point adds adventure to the town. The recently built Japanese temple gives you an example of beauty and craftsmanship.
