A political hot potato tossed between neighboring State/Countries - Sikkim, Bhutan, Nepal and India Kalimpong was for the last century everybody’s trophy, but more for its strategic values as a prosperous trade. Post than for its natural resources or its pretty face political climates change but not the inherent charms, which today bring international tourists to enjoy peaceful Kalimpong.

There is nothing in Kalimpong that you cannot live without seeing. Yet somehow this small trading town slips irresistibly into your affections.

Reaching to about 1,250m (4,100ft) above sea level Kalimpong straddles a northeasterly ridge flanked by two rivers on the west the Rangit draining the Singalila range and on the east the Relli that joins the Teesta River further south.

Take a drive to the monastery view points of Rinkingpong Hill, visit nurseries like Universal, Shanti Queen, Standard, Twin Brothers and many more. Eating momos are another fantasy. The Handicraft Center called Arts and Crafts Cooperative Center and Macfarlane Church are worth seeing before you return. The famous Dr. Grahams Home stop Deolo Hill provides an excellent vantage on the Himalaya. Walks or drive up take a picnic and enjoy the solitary day.
